Liquorice

Return

Originating in Eastern Europe and the Orient, liquorice – Glycyrrhiza glabra – is used to treat gastric ulcers and inflammations.

This hardy shrub grows to approximately one metre in height. Its root is used.

Roots from shrubs over three years in age are harvested in October. High doses can help water retention.
