As the world’s leading Tea producer, India has expanded production above all in the North-East
in the plains of Assam and the region of Darjeeling along the slopes of the Himalayas,
two of the most prestigious regions in the country. The South-West and the Nalgiri mountains
have also begun producing fine India teas.
Darjeeling ("the Champagne of Teas") alone boasts 61 plantations sometimes stretching over nearly 500 ha, each with its own specifics and character.
