Discover our History

Created in 1859,

PAGÈS, a tea and herbal tea company, is located in Le Puy-en-Velay, in the heart of Auvergne French region. This exceptional soil, by its geography and climate, has produced a remarkable mountain flora.

Since the Middle Ages,

the plants were used by caregivers as remedies and then for well-being. Thus, in the famous pilgrimage town of Le Puy-en-Velay, a thousand-year-old tradition of making plant infusions was born. Subsequently, many herbalists developed locally. Heir to this ancestral practice, PAGÈS is the oldest infusion brand in France.

Over time,

the company PAGÈS has naturally extended its know-how to the whole field of tea, the most infused plant in the world. It is based on the expertise of tea specialists, pioneers of tea in Europe, "tea-tasters", established since the end of the 19th century in the port of Hamburg, the entry point for tea on the old continent.

Nowadays,

our products are still manufactured with the same passion and the same values of authenticity and naturalness. PAGÈS contributes to the preservation of jobs in France. PAGÈS products are available in supermarkets.

Le Puy-en-Velay, historic city of infusion plants

The first traces of local know-how related to the use of medicinal plants can be found at the Hôtel-Dieu. The hospital, founded by the cathedral chapter in the 11th century, is one of the oldest hospitals in the world.

In the 14th century, the writings report that a canon of the caregivers specialized in medicine and regularly used plants. The Hospital is supplied by botanical gardens (herbularius) called "gardens of the simple" which are located in the surroundings of Le Puy, in particular at the Domaine du Sauvage in Chanaleilles, which offers an abundant flora.
